Manila Sound: Women Rising

  • Benny Boy Brewing 1821 Daly St. Los Angeles, CA 90031 (map)

What better way to kick off Women’s History Month than with a Backyard disco for your neighborhood & your titas!

Featuring a lineup of rising Filipino American women DJs alongside a mini artisan market, delicious Filipino food, and premium Benny Boy craft beer and cider, March’s special Manila Sound: Women Rising is not to be missed.

With deep roots in music, culture, and community, our powerhouse line up of DJs includes:

  • THATFLYPINAY, a queer Filipino American DJ, Beat Junkies alum, and Manila Sound resident DJ, commands the decks with energy and purpose—most recently rocking Island Women Rise at The Ford.

  • DJ WenLuv, a Beat Junkies alum and Ladies of Sound DJ, brings deep cuts and unstoppable energy. Blending her history as a B-Girl with years of DJing, she’s held it down at The Ford for Island Women Rise and the iconic Faith Santilla.

  • January, a Beat Junkies alum, Ladies of Sound DJ, and Manila Sound favorite, is a master of setting the vibe – whether spinning at Grand Park’s New Year’s Eve or turning heads DJing clubs around LA.

From hip-hop to OPM grooves, these three don’t just play music—they shape the culture.

Manila Sound is a FilAm (Filipino-American) creative collective that hosts music events in Los Angeles for the neighborhood and your titas. Through music, Manila Sound celebrates Filipino American history and how current FilAm artists are an important part of it. Their DJ stylings highlight Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and how it has influenced the sounds of today. They bring this energy to their Benny Boy Brewing residency every first Sunday (mostly!) of the month with music, food, and creative goods. Manila Sound is local to the Northeast/East LA communities and are excited to put something on for their neighborhood.

We’re thrilled to be hosting this event as a part of Regarding Her Food’s Women’s History Month Festival, a month-long celebration spotlighting the incredible achievements of women-led food and beverage businesses. The fest features exclusive pop-ups, chef collaborations, mini marts, and special events throughout the region. It’s all about driving traffic to women-led businesses while building community, equity, and inclusion—and creating a space to honor women’s impact on the culinary world and beyond. We are here for it!
