Brewer's Cask Night

  • Benny Boy Brewing 1821 Daly St. Los Angeles, CA 90031 (map)

Sip on Stephen's Scottish Ale served on a proper British beer engine at our first ever Brewer's Cask Night! Frothy pints await!

Why Cask Night, you ask? Well, our Head Brewer, Stephen, was immersed in traditional British Cask Ale For the past decade — from serving pints over the bar to then creating and producing — before joining Team Benny Boy. His passion for the style hasn't wavered and he misses it terribly. And as traditional cask ale also fits in nicely here with the BBB ethos, we are giving it a go!

Come on out to try our first release, Stephen’s Scottish Ale (4.0%) served on Proper Hand Pump (British Beer Engine) just like at the pub. We are aiming to make this a recurring event. Help us make it a success!

A few more fun tidbits on Cask Ale:

  • It’s naturally carbonated (conditioned)

  • It’s the traditional British way of producing, storing, and serving beer

  • It’s typically hand pumped from the beer cellar by the Beer Engine

  • The beer engine was developed in the late 17th century and is still a common serving method in the UK

  • Cask beer is typically stored at cellar temp ~54 degrees

  • Cask beer is often low abv "session-able" English style ales
